Drug use among drivers a threat for people relying on public transport: Kerala HC

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has directed the authorities concerned to ramp up measures to curb drug use among drivers.

The court observed that if drivers are using drugs, then it poses threat to the lives of commoners who rely on public transport.

The recommendations were given while the court was adjudicating a bail plea of a bus driver arrested for possessing drugs.

Justice Viju Abraham ordered the authorities concerned to initiate clampdown measures including suspension of license.

The court also directed the officials concerned to conduct surprise checks.
