Thiruvananthapuram: Newly-appointed BJP State President, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, has been entrusted by the party's national leadership with the mission of bringing the BJP to power in Kerala, vowing to return only after the task is completed. He emphasised that this mission is all about bringing about change, and for that change to occur in Kerala, the BJP must take charge.
Speaking at a party meeting after assuming office, Rajeev Chandrasekhar reflected on his unexpected nomination as the BJP candidate in Thiruvananthapuram, noting that his response at the time remains unchanged. "The party has given me a happy and proud responsibility, and I thank the party workers and leaders for their support," he said.
Chandrasekhar outlined his plan to increase the BJP's vote share from 19 percent to achieve political success. Acknowledging the hard work of leaders like Mararji (Kuruvannil Govindan Marar) and K Surendran, he also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by party martyrs. "I realised the strength of the BJP workers in Kerala during the last Lok Sabha elections. Thanks to their skill and dedication, we secured three and a half lakh votes in just a 35-day campaign. The BJP has always been a party of workers, and as we move forward, it will remain so," he assured.
The new BJP president highlighted the potential of Kerala, particularly youth, who excel when given the opportunity. However, he raised concerns about why Kerala is lagging behind other South Indian states. "Why are the youth here not getting opportunities? Why is there a lack of investment?" he questioned, criticising the state government for relying on loans to progress.
Chandrasekhar pointed out that people in Kerala had lost faith in the two main parties due to their unfulfilled promises. "Kerala should progress, and a better future must be created for our youth. Investors should be encouraged to come here," he stated, adding that this was the BJP's mission for the state. He drew a comparison to Prime Minister Modi's work in transforming India's economy, which was once in ruins, into a stronger, more prosperous one. "India is now the fourth-largest economy in the world, thanks to the Modi government's policies. That is the vision we have for Kerala as well," he declared.
The BJP leader stressed that investment and employment will flow into states with talented youth. However, if these opportunities are not created locally, youth will leave, taking their talents elsewhere, and investment will follow them. "This is the reality, and it will be the formula for future," he stated.
"We do not want a Kerala with gawking wages; we want a Kerala with investment, jobs, and opportunities," Chandrasekhar concluded, adding that the NDA must come to power to bring about the much-needed change in the state.
