Kerala weather alert: heavy rain expected;

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday (November 24) issued a forecast predicting rain over the next five days in Kerala, with isolated heavy showers expected in some districts.
Yellow alerts issued in key districts
The IMD has issued yellow alerts for several districts on specific dates:
Monday (November 24): Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam
Tuesday (November 25): Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta
Wednesday (November 26): Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam
The alerts indicate the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall, defined as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
IMD also forecasts light to moderate rainfall across Kerala over the next five days. Between November 24 and 26, isolated heavy showers may occur, accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas.
Cyclonic activity influencing the weather
The current weather pattern is influenced by a cyclonic circulation near the Kanyakumari Sea, expected to gain strength over Kanyakumari Sea, Sri Lanka, and the south-west Bay of Bengal in the coming days.
A well-marked low pressure system over the Malacca Strait and southern Andaman Sea may intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours, moving west-northwestwards towards the southern Andaman Sea. Over the following 48 hours, it could strengthen into a cyclonic storm in the south Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is also active over the south-eastern Arabian Sea, contributing to Kerala’s unsettled weather.
District collectors may announce rain holidays if conditions worsen.
