Rahul Mamkootathil MLA is unlikely to appear before the Crime Branch in a second rape case, citing the absence of a formal notice.

Adoor (Kerala): MLA Rahul Mamkootathil is unlikely to appear before the Crime Branch investigation team on Monday in connection with the second rape case registered against him, citing the absence of a formal notice.
Rahul said he had not yet received any summons from the investigating officers. He added that he was earlier informed he would be required to appear on December 15 as part of the anticipatory bail conditions imposed by the Thiruvananthapuram District Court. He maintained that he would cooperate with the probe and appear before the Crime Branch if officially directed to do so.
Rahul reached his residence at Mundappalli in Adoor’s Nellimukal area from Palakkad on Sunday to make preparations for a possible visit to Thiruvananthapuram. A special police team has been deployed at the house, which remains under surveillance as the investigation progresses.
Earlier, anticipatory bail was granted to expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in the second case of sexual assault against him.
Mamkootathil had already obtained interim protection from arrest from the Kerala High Court in the first case of sexual assault and forced abortion against him.
He was expelled from the Congress party following the registration of a second sexual assault case against him and the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by a sessions court.
