
Kozhikode: Renowned film producer and Mathrubhumi whole-time director, PV Gangadharan, passed away at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Friday morning, due to age-related ailments.
PV Gangadharan has left behind a legacy of his own, in the socio-cultural sphere of Kerala. He was born in Calicut, in the year 1943.
PV Gangadharan was born to couple PV Sami and Madhavi Sami. His father PV Sami, was a prominent businessman and founder of KTC group of companies. He is the younger brother of PV Chandran, a well-known industrialist and the managing editor of Mathrubhumi. PV Kumari is his sister.
PV Gangadharan is survived by his wife PV Sherien (daughter of former Advocate General Ratna Singh) and three daughters. His daughters are Shenuga Jaythilak, Shegna Vigil, and Sherga Sandeep. The trio have followed the footsteps of their father, they are noted Malaylam film producers now. His nephew PV Nidhish is the joint mangaing director of Mathrubhumi.
PV Gangadharan was known to be a loving personality, who was adored by near and dear ones alike.
A muti-faceted personality, PV Gangadharan had shown his prowess in different fields; he was a successful industrialist, politician, and film producer at the same time. He had produced over 20 noted Malayalam films under the banner of Grihalakshmi productions. He was the director of the KTC group of companies as well.
PV Gangadharan joined the Congress party in 1961. He was an active AICC member since 2005. Sujatha, Angadi, Ahimsa, Ozhivukalam, Vartha, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Ekalavyan, Achuvinte Amma, and Notebook are few of the major movies produced by him.
