Kochi: Outgoing Ernakulam district collector Renu Raj, in an indirect reference to her sudden transfer, shared a powerful Women’s Day message on social media the other day.

Taking to her official Facebook page, Renu Raj wrote a Malayalam post that roughly translates to, “It’s proud to hear that ‘You are a woman’. But the protest begins when someone says ‘You are just a woman’.

Celebrating Women’s Day with the women staff at Ernakulam General Hospital, Raj wrote in another post, “Women of various walks of the society should be themselves, take up responsibilities and fulfil them successfully, without trying to copy men. Others must accept it too.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the Kerala government had issued a transfer order to Renu Raj and four others, amidst the crisis caused by the fire at a waste-dumping yard in Brahmapuram, Kochi. She has been transferred to Wayanad and NSK Umesh will take charge of Ernakulam.

In addition, Thrissur collector Haritha V Kumar was transferred to Alappuzha while Krishna Teja, the Alappuzha collector, was shifted to Thrissur. M Geetha, the present Wayanad collector, was transferred to Kozhikode.
