Kozhikode (Kerala): Yuva Morcha workers staged black-flag protests against Congress leaders Ramesh Chennithala and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Kozhikode district on Saturday.

The protests come a day after Youth Congress workers staged a black-flag protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Kollam. The BJP had alleged a security lapse during Shah’s visit.

Protest against Chennithala near Kuttiady

The black-flag protest against Chennithala took place at Janakikkad near Kuttiyadi.

Chennithala, who was travelling to attend various programmes in Kozhikode district, was passing through a narrow road when protesters rushed towards his convoy and waved black flags.

Priyanka Gandhi’s convoy targeted in Thiruvambady

Another protest was held against Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi in Thiruvambady.

The incident took place near Thambalamanna as her convoy was passing through the area amid heavy security provided by the CRPF and Kerala Police.

Yuva Morcha workers who had gathered by the roadside suddenly moved in front of the convoy while waving black flags.

The protest was led by Yuva Morcha district president V.V. Sreehari and general secretary Nithin Madhusoodanan. Thiruvambady Police arrested the two leaders.

Yuva Morcha has decided to intensify protests across the state, according to the organisation.

Earlier, its workers had also staged a black-flag protest against the convoy of Congress leader K. Muraleedharan in Kollam.
