Youth Congress activists, led by state vice president Binu Chulliyil, staged a black-flag protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Kollam, leading to five detentions.

Kollam: Union Home Minister Amit Shah faced black-flag protests by Youth Congress workers upon his arrival in Kollam on Saturday, resulting in the police detaining five activists, including Youth Congress state vice president Binu Chulliyil.
The protest occurred shortly after Shah landed at the Ashramam Ground via helicopter. He was in the district to inaugurate the 'Sahkar Se Samriddhi' (Prosperity Through Cooperation) programme at the Pavithram Convention Centre at Mulavana in Kundara, marking International Women Farmers' Year and launching women-led cooperative ventures in the region.
Following the event, the Home Minister is scheduled to visit the Amritanandamayi Math to participate in Mata Amritanandamayi’s birthday celebrations.
In light of the VVIP visit, local authorities have enforced strict traffic restrictions across Kollam city and connecting arterial roads from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm, which will remain in effect until the Home Minister's departure.
