New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu, prime minister Narendra Modi, vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar and chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan have expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the Tanur boat accident.

Modi extended his sympathies to the bereaved families. The families of the deceased will also receive financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh, he said.

In the meantime, CM Pinarayi Vijayan has scheduled to visit the accident site Monday morning, while an official day of mourning has been declared in the state to pay respect to the individuals who lost their lives in the tragedy. All government events in the state, including the taluk-level adalats planned for May 8, have been postponed.
