Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that public support for the BJP-led NDA is steadily rising in Kerala, claiming that voters are becoming disillusioned with what he termed the unfulfilled promises of both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF).

In a post on social media platform X, Modi expressed confidence about the party’s growing footprint in the state. 

He also said he was looking forward to interacting with party workers and citizens during the “Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot Samvad – Keralam” programme scheduled for later in the day.

His remarks come in the run-up to the 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections, scheduled to be held on April 9, with vote counting set for May 4. The current assembly’s term is due to end on May 23.

Earlier this week, the Bharatiya Janata Party unveiled its election manifesto for Kerala, outlining a roadmap focused on economic expansion, infrastructure development, and welfare initiatives.

The manifesto proposes transforming major cities into specialised economic hubs.

It envisions Thiruvananthapuram as an IT and innovation centre, Kochi as a shipbuilding hub, Kozhikode as a healthcare and medical innovation hub, Thrissur as a cultural tourism destination, Kollam as a blue economy cluster, and Kannur as a defence innovation centre, measures aimed at boosting investment and employment.

On the welfare front, the party has announced proposals such as a “Bhakshya Arogya Suraksha” card for economically weaker women, offering monthly assistance for essential needs.

It has also promised to set up an AIIMS in the state and introduce a high-speed rail corridor linking Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur.

Additional commitments include providing two free LPG cylinders annually to underprivileged households during Onam and Christmas, along with a monthly supply of 20,000 litres of free water for every household.
