Plastic granules and pieces were found near the mouth and all over the body. It is suspected that these are plastic granules from containers that fell into the sea from a ship that sank off the Kochi coast. The body has been shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
There was reports that the body could be one of the missing fishermen from Vizhinjam. However, after relatives arrived and identified it, it was confirmed that the body does not belong to any of the fishermen.
