Kozhikode: CPM state secretariat member and former Alathur MP PK Biju has strongly refuted the allegations levelled by former MLA Anil Akkara in connection with the Karuvannur bank fraud case.
Biju stated that there was no connection between him and the accused in the Karuvannur case. He challenged Anil Akkara to prove his claims.
Akkara had alleged that the unnamed former parliamentarian mentioned in the Enforcement Directorate’s remand report was PK Biju. The Congress leader accused P Satheesh Kumar, a native of Kolazhy in Thrissur and the primary accused in the case was Biju's mentor.
In the press meet on Sunday, Biju expressed his surprise at the accusations made by Akkara and emphasised that he has no association with money launderers or any questionable activities. He stated that the party and the people are his mentors and that he has no need to work under the mentorship of money launderers.
Furthermore, Biju suggested that Akkara has a history of making baseless allegations and attempting to tarnish the reputation of public servants.
Regarding the party's response to the Karuvannur bank fraud, Biju clarified that the CPM has not appointed a commission of inquiry. Instead, the party's position is to investigate all allegations thoroughly and take legal action against those involved.
Akkara, on Saturday said, “Biju, who served as an MP in 2009, had his MP office located in Vadakkencherry in the Palakkad district. After his reelection in 2014, he relocated to a palace-like residence in Parlikad, Thrissur. Wadakkanchery municipal councillor PR Aravindakshan, who is expected to be arrested in connection with the case soon, was managing the house.”
Biju clarified that neither he nor his wife own a house. He said he paid the house rents from his account. He highlighted that any transactions that lack transparency should be brought to light and addressed through legal means.
