Pinarayi turns 76 today and it is a special Day

Thiruvananthapuram:Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will have a memorable day on Monday. Today is the day when the new legislators will take oath and also the day when he turns 76 years. This birthday for the chief minister will be doubly sweet with the party winning handsomely and continuing in power. The captain will be there in the Assembly to share the happiness with his new team when the House convenes for the first session.

Pinarayi Vijayan was born on May 24, 1944 to Koran and Kalyani in Kannur as their youngest son. His early life was stuck in poverty and hardships. His youth bloomed through struggles and he entered politics through student activities during his college days.

Joining the Communist party of India (Marxist) in 1964, he is the longest serving secretary of the Kerala state committee of the CPM. He also underwent imprisonment for one-and-half years. He was elected to the politburo of the CPM in 2002.

In 2016, on the day before he took over as the chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi informed with a smile about his birthday. Unlike his serious demeanour, he said, “First, I will distribute sweets to all of you. I wanted to know from the fourth estate if they knew why he had distributed the sweets. Today is my birthday” he told mediapersons at the AKG centre.“I have kept it as a secret. Today is my birthday,” he said taking everyone by surprise.
