Taking note of the serious allegations levelled against ADGP Ajith Kumar and other top cops by MLA PV Anvar, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan announced a thorough investigation against the accused police officers. At a a public event, the Chief Minister announced that top officials will investigate the case, under the supervision of State Police Chief Shaik Darvesh Saheb.
Pinarayi vowed strict action against all the wrongdoers. Meanwhile, MLA Anvar continues to come up with new allegations against the police officials. The people's representaive earlier launched a scathing against SP Sujith Das as well.
Interestingly, Pinarayi Vijayan announced the investigation from the dais during a police association event, which was also attended by the ADGP."
Pinarayi vows strict action against police misconduct
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has affirmed the government's commitment to address police misconduct with clarity and rigour. He stressed that issues currently facing the public are being examined based on their merits without any kind of bias. The CM highlighted the importance of discipline within the police force and warned that those who deviate from expected standards will face severe consequences.
Vijayan commended the Kerala Police for their significant improvements, noting that the force is now one of the best in the country. He praised their effectiveness in maintaining public order and their exemplary work in scientific crime investigations and drug trafficking operations. The Kerala Police are also noted for their robust handling of economic crimes and crimes against women and children, with a focus on impartial enforcement regardless of rank.
Despite these advancements, the CM acknowledged the existence of a small faction that undermines the police's reputation. He emphasised the government's zero-tolerance policy towards such individuals and reiterated that the removal of corrupt officers will continue, citing the dismissal of 108 officers in the past eight years. Vijayan assured that the government supports honest officers and expects the police force to operate with integrity and justice, maintaining public trust and upholding high standards.
