Thrissur: A 50-year-old man has been admitted to intensive care after accidentally consuming pesticide, mistaking it for alcohol. The incident took place near Nadathara in Thrissur.

The man reportedly went looking for alcohol after a friend told him there was a bottle near his house. However, upon reaching the location, the friend was not present. Spotting a bottle nearby, the man assumed it contained alcohol. Due to poor lighting at night, he was unable to confirm the contents of the bottle.

Shortly after consuming a small amount, he realised something was wrong. He was rushed to hospital with the help of another friend.

Initially treated at a private medical college in Thrissur, his condition did not improve, and he was transferred to a private medical college in Ernakulam, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit.
