Thiruvananthapuram: A shocking incident has emerged from Vithura Taluk Hospital, where a patient claimed to have found a small pin inside a capsule distributed by the hospital pharmacy. The complaint was filed by Vasantha, a resident of Urukunnu, who discovered the small pin in a C-Mox capsule prescribed by the hospital.

Vasantha sought medical attention at the hospital on Wednesday evening for shortness of breath. As per the doctor’s prescription, she purchased the C-Mox capsules from the hospital pharmacy. While preparing to take her evening dose, she noticed something unusual.

“It is a capsule to be taken twice a day. I realised the powder inside the capsule I was about to take seemed less. When I squeezed it, I felt something pointed. On pulling the cap apart, I saw something resembling a small pin. Breaking open another capsule, I found it full of powder. But after closely examining the powder, I found another pin. I checked a third capsule and found yet another pin. I cannot confirm if the two capsules I consumed earlier also contained pins,” Vasantha explained.

Vasantha immediately returned to the hospital with the capsule and filed a complaint. Following this, she underwent an X-ray to check for any potential health complications due to the capsules she had already taken. The examination revealed no issues.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the origin of the capsules and identify the manufacturer and batch involved. As of now, no official explanation has been provided by the hospital regarding the incident.
