Kannur: Even after 140 days, the police have failed to file a charge sheet in the case related to a fatal explosion during illegal bomb-making in Panoor. The delay, attributed to technical reasons, has resulted in the Thalassery Chief Judicial Magistrate granting bail to all but one of the 15 accused in the case.

Vineesh, who was seriously injured in the explosion and later arrested in the case, remains the only accused yet to receive bail.

The incident happened on the morning of April 5, when a bomb exploded on the terrace of an under-construction house in an isolated area near Panoor. The blast claimed one life and left three others seriously injured.

The accused in the case include DYFI activists Sabin Lal (25), K Atul (28), Arun (28), C Sayuj (24), K Mithunlal (27), Amal Babu (29), Shijal (28), Akshay (25), Ashwant alias Eldo (26), Rajilesh (43), Jijosh (38), Babu (64), and Vinodhan (38).

Eranholi blast incident

In a related case, the police investigation has also stalled regarding a bomb blast in Eranholi that resulted in the death of a man named Velayudhan (80). The explosion happened when Velayudhan opened discarded material while collecting coconuts in an empty field near his home. A case of unnatural death has been registered, but no significant progress has been made in the investigation.
