Palakkad: PT 7 (Palakkad Tusker 7), the wild jumbo that has been spreading fear in the district, raided residential areas again on Friday night.

The jumbo was spotted near the Chettil Vettiya temple at around 10:30 pm. It stepped into the field and consumed paddy. Following that it charged into a house in proximity. It also uprooted a tree at a house in the area.

On receiving information, the rapid response team rushed to the spot. They burst firecrackers and later the elephant fled to the forest fringe.

The episode has panicked the residents. PT 7 has been spreading fear in the area for the past few days.

Meanwhile, the forest department has intensified surveillance on the forest border to prevent wild elephants from entering the residential areas. The rapid response team along with kumki elephants has been keeping vigil in certain routes to counter the wild elephants.
