Palakkad: A youngster died by suicide in Panangattiri near Kollengode here on Tuesday after losing money to the tune of Rs 3.5 lakh while playing online rummy. 

The deceased has been identified as Girish.

The incident happened in the morning. Girish had been working as a lab technician at a college in Thrissur. 

According to the family of the deceased, the person had sold gold ornaments to manage funds. He was stressed by the financial crunch and had no other issues, the relatives said.
