Mundur (Palakkad): A wild elephant entered a residential area on Sunday early morning and ate jackfruit from a home. The incident happened around 4 am on Sunday at Reji's residence in Puthuppariyaram. The animal devoured the jackfruit that the family had stored in a shed behind their house for personal use.
Reji, along with his three children and son's wife, resides in the house. Upon hearing commotion from the rear of their home, the family witnessed the elephant feasting on the jackfruit. As the elephant made its way back, the resident dogs started barking. The elephant destroyed the kennel. However, dogs managed to escape unhurt.

Local residents have expressed concerns regarding the escalating elephant menace in the area over the past two weeks. Recently, wild elephants had been venturing near Reji's home to eat jackfruit from the tree. The intrusion into the house compound by the wild elephant has sparked local protests.
