Palakkad: Kerala is praying for Babu, who is trapped in the Malampuzha Cherad hill since Monday. Thirty hours after being stuck on the hill, the young man still has not got any food or water. The extreme cold of last night and the scorching heat of the day must have left Babu exhausted beside the pain out of the leg injury from the fall.

Rescuers, family and friends are hoping that Babu will be able to survive this one more night as a team of soldiers from Bengaluru and another team from Wellington have been sent to Palakkad to continue the operation. A troop of the army, including mountaineers and Mount Everest conquerors, are coming en route to Palakkad.

Babu cannot be reached by foot or even by using ropes. It is not clear how did Babu reach the top of the hill.

Babu had been responding to the calls of the rescuers by waving cloths in the morning, but in the afternoon, it stopped. Babu used his mobile phone till 7 pm on Monday. The natives have raised the question of why a bigger drone was not used to take food and water to him. A small drone was used to locate him before. Locals, including those involved in the rescue operation, alleged that the authorities even considered bringing in a helicopter only by Tuesday afternoon. The helicopter mission was aborted due to high wind.
