Palakkad: In the controversial Thenkurissi honour killing case, the court has found the father-in-law and his relative of the murdered Aneesh guilty. The sentence for the accused will be pronounced on Saturday. The first accused is Suresh, uncle of Aneesh’s wife Haritha, and the second accused is her father Prabhukumar of Ilamandam.
Aneesh was murdered on Christmas day in 2020. The crime was motivated by caste and wealth disparities, as Aneesh (27) had married Haritha, who came from a wealthier background. On the 88th day of their marriage, Haritha’s father and uncle stabbed Aneesh to death at Ilamandam in Thenkurissi.
Aneesh, who worked as a painter, and Haritha had been in love since their school days.
The verdict was issued by Palakkad District Additional Sessions Court Judge R Vinayak Rao.
