Thiruvananthapuram: Senior IPS officer P. Vijayan, recently promoted to ADGP, has taken charge as the director of the Thrissur Police Academy.
In outlining his vision for the Academy, Vijayan stressed the importance of cultivating officers capable of effectively executing the state government's initiatives such as 'Navakeralam'. He indicated that the training syllabus would embrace such aspirations.
Vijayan had previously faced suspension in connection with issues related to the Elathur train arson case. Allegations were made that he had leaked information regarding the case's suspects. The suspension order, issued on May 18, 2023, followed a report submitted by ADGP M. R. Ajith Kumar.
However, Vijayan was reinstated to service in November last year following a favourable report from the chief secretary, after nearly five months of suspension.
