Kannur: Citing the recent speech made by Congress leader BRM Shafeer in connection with the murder of Muslim Youth League worker Ariyil Abdul Shukoor in 2012, CPM leader P Jayarajan has written a letter to the CBI director demanding further investigation into the murder case in which he is also an accused.  

In his speech, Shafeer had said that an FIR was lodged in the case following pressure from KPCC president K Sudhakaran. Jayarajan has also attached the video clippings of Shafeer’s speech. In his letter, the veteran CPM leader has alleged conspiracy against him and has requested the officials to collect Shafeer’s statements.

Jayarajan, who is said to have taken legal advice in the case, expressed hope that CBI would handle and act upon his petition sincerely. While talking to the press in Kannur, Jayarajan said that the recent remarks made by various Congress leaders in connection with the case, clearly indicated that it was a botched-up one.

Currently, P Jayarajan and former Kalliasseri MLA TV Rajesh are the prime accused in the case.

Meanwhile Shafeer has backtracked from his comments.
