Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government forwarded a letter to the Prime Minister stating that oxygen supply to other states can no longer be continued.

It is stated in the letter forwarded by the Chief Minister that only 86 tonnes out of the 450 tonnes of oxygen in reserve stock is remaining at present and also requested permission to use all 219 tonnes of oxygen produced in Kerala for the state's needs.

The maximum production capacity of the state is 219 tonnes. Earlier, Kerala used to help other states to meet their oxygen requirement. However, as the reserve stock is getting used up, Kerala is not in a position to help other states, the Chief Minister informed through the letter.

Most of the hospitals across Kerala are experiencing severe oxygen shortage. The situation in Kasaragod is worsening. Similar situation can occur in other districts too. In view of this crisis, the Chief Minister made it clear that the state would need the entire quantity of oxygen produced here.
