Thiruvananthapuram: The opposition stated in the assembly that the central government had instructed monitoring people coming from Italy on February 26 itself. They also alleged that the state government concealed this information. The health minister had said the other day that the Centre’s instruction was issued on March 1.
A person who came from Italy directly visited the hospital but he was sent back saying everything was normal. But now he tested positive for the Coronavirus, according to reports. Doctors were not appointed at Nedumbassery airport. The family who came from Italy went for even shopping in Kochi, but the government could not trace them.
The government did not take further action even after they expressed willingness to conduct tests at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, the opposition alleged. Deputy leader of opposition Dr M K Muneer raised these allegations in the assembly.
