Thiruvananthapuram: Online taxi drivers across Kerala will go on a one-day strike on Monday, June 9, protesting alleged exploitation by online taxi platforms. The strike, called by the joint forum Online Taxi Community, will begin at 6 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m.
The protestors have also planned a march and sit-in demonstration at the Ernakulam District Collectorate at 10 a.m. as part of the strike.
Their key demands include the implementation of a uniform fare system for online taxis, government regulation of ride-hailing companies, proper legislation in the sector, a minimum wage for drivers, and protection of their labour rights.
According to reports, all major unions have extended their support to the strike.
