Thiruvananthapuram: The distribution of this year’s free Onam kits by the state government will begin on Monday with Food and Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil inaugurating the programme in Peroorkada by 8 am.
The Onam kits are intended for around six lakh yellow card holders and NPI (Brown) card holders, besides all cardholders in landslide-affected areas of Wayanad. Starting on Monday, the kits will be made available through local ration shops.

From Tuesday, Onam kits will be delivered directly to individuals residing in welfare institutions such as homes for the elderly, children and disabled. Each kit in cloth bags contains 14 essential items, including green grams, vermicelli payasam mix, coconut oil, cashews, ghee, tea powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder.
