Kozhikode: Two government servants in Kerala were asked to write an imposition for failing to furnish personal details in their response to RTI requests.
Kerala State Information Commissioner A. Abdul Hakeem directed Ignatius M. John, a former Information officer at Koothattukulam Municipality, and P.A. Anitha C, personal assistant of the Beypore Port director, to write their name and contact number 100 times as a form of punishment.
Ignatius is now employed as an engineer in the Kozhikode Regional office under the Local Self Government Department.
Both were punished in separate incidents. In both cases, the RTI reply failed to contain details of the official in charge of the matter. Later, the officials informed the commission that they had forgotten to provide their names. Hearing this, the State Information Commissioner directed them to write down their name and contact number 100 times.
