Thiruvananthapuram: Noted Bharatanatyam dancer and artist Chandralekha Sreenivasan (73), wife of former ambassador TP Sreenivasan, passed away at a private hospital here on Monday.
Chandralekha had been undergoing treatment for respiratory diseases for the past few days. She is the founding chairperson of Karunya Charitable International in Kumarapuram, Thiruvananthapuram.
Karunya, which provides treatment and accommodation for cancer patients, has seven branches in various countries across the world.
Chandralekha is survived by her children Sreenath Sreenivasan (Columbia University, New York), Sreekanth Sreenivasan (Dubai), daughters-in-law Roopa Unnikrishnan and Sharavati Choksi.
The funeral will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday at Santhi Kavadam, Thycaud. ‘Sanchayanam’ ceremony is scheduled on Sunday at 9 am.
