Vaikom: Vadakara MP K Muraleedharan complained to the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) for not inviting him to speak at the centenary celebrations of Vaikom Satyagraha organised by the party here on Thursday.
After Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge inaugurated the event, only KPCC president K Sudhakaran, opposition leader of the Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan, former KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala and UDF convenor MM Hassan spoke at the event representing KPCC.
Muraleedharan feels that the state leadership intentionally avoided him. He was given a chair in the front row. He is also a former KPCC president. He expressed his dissatisfaction to Sudhakaran at the event itself. He also conveyed the matter to Venugopal.
The complaint also mentioned that Shashi Tharoor was not allowed to speak.
The MP also said that the party will have to find another candidate for Vadakara in the upcoming election if the “neglect” continues.
Meanwhile, the leadership’s response was that the organisers may have missed him and there was no intentional act. However, the explanation it did not pacify Muraleedharan.
