
Malappuram: The route map of the 24-year-old man who died of Nipah near Vandoor has been released. Nipah was confirmed on Sunday following the young man's death on September 9, with the positive result from the Pune virology lab.
The victim began showing symptoms on September 4 and was at home between September 4 and 5. On September 6, he visited a clinic from 11:30 am to 12 pm and later went to Babu Traditional Medicine Centre from 7:30 pm to 7:45 pm. That night, he was at JMC Clinic from 8:18 pm to 10:30 pm.
On September 7, the young man visited Nilambur Police Station from 9:20 am to 9:30 am via auto. He then went to the NIMS Emergency Department from 7:25 pm to 8:24 pm, was moved to the ICU at 8:25 pm, and remained there until 1 pm on September 8.
At 1:25 pm on September 8, he was transferred to MES Hospital. He spent time in the MES Emergency Department from 2:06 pm to 3:55 pm, underwent an MRI from 3:59 pm to 5:25 pm, and stayed in the emergency department from 5:35 pm to 6 pm. He was moved to MICU Unit 1 at 6:10 pm and was treated there until 12:50 am on September 9, when he was transferred to MICU Unit 2, where he received care until 8:46 am.
The Health Department released the contact list of the youth’s associates on Sunday. As of now, 151 people are listed as primary contacts.
In response to the Nipah outbreak, various restrictions have been imposed in Malappuram district. The District Collector has mandated that residents wear masks while outside. Wards 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Thiruvali Panchayat and Ward 7 of Mampad Panchayat have been declared containment zones by District Collector V R Vinod.
