Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister K Muraleedharan said that the Nipah virus has not spread further and all test results received so far have been negative.

“There are no new cases. The condition of the patient on ventilator support remains unchanged. I was in Kozhikode when the Nipah case was reported and returned only after issuing the necessary instructions,” Muraleedharan said.

He added that the government must monitor the situation across Kerala and take measures to prevent the virus from spreading to other regions. “That is why I came to Thiruvananthapuram. We have taken very strong preventive measures. I view the rest merely as political criticism,” he said.

Muraleedharan also noted that the Revenue Minister is currently in Kozhikode and will convene a meeting of public representatives. He criticised the opposition for using the Nipah situation as a political tool.

“It is not right for the opposition to use Nipah as a weapon handed to them. All test results of those in the high-risk category have come back negative. We do not expect any new findings, but every case is still being closely monitored,” he said.
