Kozhikode: The Nipah fear that had gripped the entire state following the death of two persons due to the deadly virus in Kozhikode, is slowly starting to fade away. People in Kozhikode are breathing a sigh of relief as further tragedy has been averted due to the timely intervention of medical professionals.
Four people, including a nine-year-old boy, who were under treatment for Nipah in Kozhikode, have recovered, state Health Minister Veena George said on Friday.
Sharing the "good news", the minister said in a brief statement that they have tested "double negative" (they were tested twice and turned out to be negative).
A total of six people were infected with the virus in the district, and of them, two died.
Two patients, including a nine-year-old boy, who were undergoing treatment at MIMS hospital in Kozhikode, are expected to be discharged from the hospital by this evening. The patients are the son and brother-in-law of Mohammed Ali, who had succumbed to the disease earlier.
However, the district authorities urged people to continue their vigil against the virus infection, maintain social distancing and ensure the use of masks and sanitizer.
