In a latest move, P V Anvar, independent MLA from Nilambur, formerly supported by the CPM, announced the formation of a new political party. He clarified that the new party will uphold secularism as its foundation.

Anvar said that when a Hindu leaves the CPM, they are labeled as 'Sanghi', and if it's a Muslim, they are called 'Sudappi' or 'Jamaat-e-Islami'. He jokingly added that, he being a Muslim, there’s no doubt that labels will be assigned to him as well.

He also mentioned that a concrete plan is being prepared for the formation of the new party and confirmed that the new party will contest in the upcoming local elections.

The conflict between PV Anvar MLA and the CPM leadership entered a new phase with the CPM officially severing all ties with the legislator few days ago. The CPM dismissed all the serious allegations raised by Anvar against Chief MInister and his loyalists as "baseless" and severely criticised him for "undermining the government by providing ammunition to its opponents".
