Nilambur: UDF candidate Aryadan Shoukath has submitted his nomination papers to contest in the Nilambur by-election on Saturday. The nomination was submitted at the Nilambur Taluk Office. KPCC Working President A.P. Anil Kumar, Muslim League Rajya Sabha MP Abdul Wahab and other prominent UDF leaders were present.
Aryadan Shoukath arrived to submit the nomination papers accompanied by a large crowd. During this time, a minor clash broke out between LDF and UDF workers. LDF candidate M. Swaraj, who arrived in Nilambur, was being welcomed by LDF supporters. The UDF procession also passed through the same route, which led to a confrontation between some of the workers. Before it escalated into a physical altercation, leaders intervened and brought things under control.
Since the UDF announced its candidate right after the election declaration, Aryadan Shoukath submitted his nomination after completing the first round of campaigning. The LDF announced its candidate on Friday. Swaraj is also submitting his nomination today. Currently, Swaraj is conducting a roadshow in Nilambur.
