Cherthala (Alappuzha): A newborn has reportedly gone missing from a private hospital here. According to the reports, the child's mother confessed to killing the baby and burying the body. 

The child's mother, a resident of Pallipuram 17th Ward, left the hospital last Saturday after delivery. Upon returning home, the baby was not found with the mother, prompting Asha workers to notify Cherthala police of the incident. 

Initially, the mother claimed that the baby was handed over to a couple in Tripunithura. However, she later provided a statement alleging that she had murdered the child and buried the body. She also implicated her lover in the baby's death. 

Both the woman and her boyfriend are now in police custody. The woman, who has two other children, is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
