The Nava Kerala Bus, once used exclusively for the Chief Minister and Ministers during the Nava Kerala Yathra, is now geared up to serve the public on regular travel routes. Among the top considerations is the Kozhikode-Bengaluru route.

Recent reports indicate that the decision regarding the commencement of public service for the Nava Kerala Bus is imminent, with a final verdict expected within the next two days. The expected launch comes four months after the Nava Kerala Sadas, where the bus was first introduced.

Speculation surrounding the bus's idleness was recently highlighted by 'Mathrubhumi', raising questions about its prolonged dormancy. Originally decided for inclusion in KSRTC’s budget tourism project post-Nava Kerala Yatra, but it took a turn when the permit was modified from contract carriage to stage carriage.

The transition to a stage carriage permit signifies the bus's readiness for public travel, enabling passengers to utilize the service by purchasing tickets. The next step involves securing an inter-state travel permit to facilitate cross-border travel.

Internally, the Nava Kerala Bus has undergone necessary modifications to comply with stage carriage regulations. Following the Nava Kerala Sadas, the bus underwent alterations at the Prakash Bus Body Building Company in Bengaluru over a three-month period. However, criticism arose regarding the delay in completing the modifications, as the process could have been concluded within a week. The bus was transferred to the Pappanamcode Central Works, where final touches were administered in preparation for its public service debut.
