Kochi: Actor Shine Tom Chacko reportedly fled from a hotel in North Ernakulam during a police raid for drugs on Wednesday night. The incident occurred at around 11 PM on Wednesday, and purported CCTV footage has surfaced showing a person running down the stairs from the hotel’s third floor.

In response to the growing controversy, Shine’s mother Maria Carmel told Mathrubhumi News that her son may have fled out of fear.

“My son is being targeted. Did the officials find anything in his room? He must have been scared, which forced him to run,” she said.

She added that no close family members have spoken directly to Shine since the incident, but someone they know did manage to get in touch with him.

“As far as we know, there was a tall man standing in front of his room. When my son asked if he was there for room service, the man said no. Then he asked if he was from the police. Again, the reply was no. My son gets scared easily, and that might have made him flee,” she added.

Overnight drama

The raid was conducted by Kochi City Police following revelations made by actor Vincy Aloshious. According to reports, upon opening the door to Room 314, Shine allegedly saw the police and escaped through the window. The District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) reportedly carried out the raid with the actor as their target.

Earlier, actor Vincy Aloshious had submitted a complaint to the actors' association AMMA against Shine Tom Chacko. She alleged that he behaved inappropriately with her while under the influence of drugs. According to Vincy, the incident occurred on the sets of an upcoming film.
