Thiruvananthapuram: Muslim League leader and former MLA A Yunus Kunju passed away at the age of 80. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

Yunus Kunju was elected to the Assembly from Malappuram in 1991. He had also contested from Eravipuram and Punalur, but lost.

He was a member of the Muslim League state secretariat and the national council, IUML Kollam district president and general secretary, president and member of Vadakkevila Grama Panchayat and member of erstwhile District Council.

His mortal remains will be laid to rest at 4 pm at the Kolloorvila Juma Masjid Qabrastan. Wife- Darifa Beevi. He has seven children, four boys and three girls.
