Kozhikode: MSF state president P K Navas has been arrested in connection with the complaint filed by Haritha, the women wing of MSF.

Navas arrived at Chengamanadu police station in Kozhikode on Friday at 1.30 pm as directed by the police. Navas had said before the interrogation that he was summoned for recording statement and collecting more details on the incident.

After recording his statement, Navas was arrested by the police. Bailable offences are charged against him. It is learnt that the procedures for getting bail has been initiated by MSF state treasurer and other office-bearers.

Earlier, 10 members of Haritha had lodged a sexual harassment complaint with the Women’s Commission. Later, this was handed over to the police and their statement was recorded by Chengamanadu police. Navas was arrested as the complainants refused to withdraw the complaint.

Case for insulting modesty of woman was charged against Navas. The police have to record statements of more people and collect evidence in connection with the complaint. So, they are collecting the minutes of the meeting which was held on June 22. The controversial remarks against Haritha members was made during this meeting.

A high level committee of the Muslim League had dissolved the state committee of Haritha after filed complaint with the Muslim League. State general secretary PMA Salam stated that they dissolved the Haritha committee due to severe indiscipline.
