Chinnakanal (Idukki): Murivalan Komban, the wild elephant who sustained severe injuries in a clash with the formidable tusker Chakkakomban, died on Saturday. The cause of death was reported to be deep injuries near the elephant's spinal cord. Despite receiving treatment from forest department officials, Murivalan Komban's condition deteriorated.
The conflict between Murivalan Komban and Chakkakomban had been ongoing for nearly ten days, starting on August 21. Chakkakomban, known for causing disruption in the Chinnakanal, Pooppara, and Santhanpara regions, had engaged in an intense battle with Murivalan Komban.
After a prolonged and violent struggle, Murivalan Komban, exhausted and severely injured, collapsed in the bushes of the Chinnakanal region. The elephant was found with approximately 15 deep wounds and cuts, particularly severe on its legs and backside.
On Friday, Chinnakanal residents had observed Murivalan Komban in the forest, eating despite its injuries. However, by early Saturday morning, the elephant was totally exhausted.
Meanwhile, Chakkakomban remains active in the Chinnakanal area, continuing to pose a threat to the region.
