Munnar: The extreme cold in Munnar continues with the lowest temperature recorded in the season. The temperature in the town was at 7 degree Celsius on Thursday morning.

The coolest spot Chenduvara experienced 3 degree Celsius, Thenmala 5 degree, and Chittuvara and Kundala 4 degree celsius temperature.

The temperature is expected to go down to minus degree in the coming days. With this, frost in the estate region will be intensified. Munnar is witnessing a heavy rush of tourists after the place turned more cold.

Considering the huge number of tourists, traffic through Devikulam Gap Road was extended till January 6. Only small vehicles are allowed to pass through the road from 7 am to 6 pm.
