Tamil Nadu braces for moderate morning fog in several districts. Dry weather and rising temperatures continue.

Tamil Nadu: Several districts across Tamil Nadu are likely to experience moderate morning fog over the next few days, with reduced visibility during early hours, even as dry weather and gradually rising temperatures continue, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) said on Sunday.
According to the latest weather forecast, misty and foggy conditions will prevail in many northern and western districts until February 12. Areas such as Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode, Dindigul and the Nilgiris are expected to witness moderate fog during early mornings, which may affect road travel and daily commuting.
Motorists, especially those using highways and ghat roads, have been advised to drive cautiously due to reduced visibility.
Chennai and its neighbouring districts — Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram — are also likely to experience light to moderate mist in the mornings. In the state capital, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with mild fog reported in a few areas at dawn.
Despite foggy mornings, the overall weather pattern across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal is expected to remain largely dry until February 14. The Meteorological Department has ruled out any significant rainfall during this period, indicating stable atmospheric conditions.
Meanwhile, daytime temperatures are forecast to rise gradually, with maximum temperatures in some parts of the state increasing by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius by February 12, leading to warmer afternoons.
Weather experts said such conditions are typical for this time of year, as clear skies during the day contribute to higher temperatures, while cooler nights result in fog formation in the early hours.
Health officials have advised residents to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours. The elderly, children and outdoor workers have been urged to take extra precautions.
With dry weather persisting and fog expected in several districts, residents can expect misty mornings followed by warm and clear days across Tamil Nadu in the coming week.
