
Kozhikode: Noted Malayalam writer M. Mukundan has stated that late MT Vasudevan Nair is the only Malayalam writer who truly deserves the Nobel Prize.
He pointed out that MT’s writing is flawless, polished to perfection, and that not a single word can be removed from his stories without losing their essence. Mukundan shared that MT has been in his thoughts since the novel Nalukettu, and he considers his relationship with MT to be deeper than with other writers. He also credited Jnanpith winner as the one who taught him how to write.

“MT's writing is remarkable. Every word is meticulously polished to perfection,” Mukundan said.
“The main flaw in many of Malayalam’s stories is the carelessness of writers. There’s a lack of editing. But MT edits his work even while writing. Not a single word can be taken away from his stories. No one else in Malayalam writes with such precision, control, and attention to detail.”
Mukundan concluded by saying, “There is only one writer in Malayalam who truly deserves the Nobel Prize, and that is MT. Even if he is no longer with us, his memories will continue to guide me.
MT Vasudevan Nair passed away on Wednesday at 10:00 pm while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode. He was surrounded by his daughter Aswathi, son-in-law Srikanth, and grandson Madhav in his final moments. In tribute to his life and legacy, the state has announced a two-day mourning period.
