Kerala’s Kumbala school protests intensify after teachers halt pro-Palestine mime; MSF and SFI demand action; arts festival faces disruption.

Kasaragod (Kerala): Protests erupted at Kumbala Government Higher Secondary School on Saturday after teachers reportedly halted a mime performance supporting Palestine during the school’s arts festival.
According to police reports, the performance was stopped on Friday when two teachers intervened, instructing the students to cease the show and subsequently drawing the stage curtains.
The incident sparked widespread criticism, leading the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to hold a meeting to address the issue.
Members of the Muslim Students Federation (MSF), the student wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), disrupted the meeting demanding strict action against the teachers involved.
The protesters also alleged that students were locked inside a room to prevent the continuation of the event.
Meanwhile, members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) also demonstrated at the school.
Authorities later dispersed the protesters and deployed police personnel on campus to maintain order. Officials stated that the PTA is working towards restarting the arts festival and resolving the conflict.
