Rs 2 crore was allotted for protecting the ancestral house of poet Sugathakumari in Aranmula and setting up a museum of visual and audio collection of Malayalam poetry.

Thiruvananthapuram: Finance minister Dr Thomas Isaac announced Rs 5 crore to erect a memorial for noted socialist leader M P Veerendra Kumar in Kozhikode. The minister declared this while talking about the projects in cultural sector.

Rs 2 crore was allotted for protecting the ancestral house of poet Sugathakumari in Aranmula and setting up a museum of visual and audio collection of Malayalam poetry. Rs 4 crore has been allocated for Malayalam Mission, the minister said.

Rs 3 crore was allotted for encouraging women movie directors and Rs 2 crore for encouraging directors who belong to SC/ST categories. Apart from this, Rs 3 crore was allocated for amateur dramas and Rs 2 crore for professional drama sector, he stated.
