A 28-year-old groom-to-be died after his motorcycle collided with a KSRTC electric bus in Thiruvananthapuram, early Monday morning.

Thiruvananthapuram: In a tragic road accident in Kerala, a 28-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a KSRTC electric bus at Sreekaryam early Monday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Ragesh, a native of Chellamangalam, Chempazhanthy. Shockingly, he was scheduled to get married later in the morning at a temple in Kattaikonam, after the couple reportedly decided to go ahead with the ceremony despite family opposition.
According to police, the accident occurred around 1 am at Pangappara Mankuzhy, when Ragesh’s motorcycle crashed into a Swift KSRTC electric bus travelling towards Vikas Bhavan after charging at the Kaniyapuram depot. He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. The motorcycle was completely destroyed in the impact.
The Sreekaryam Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to determine the cause of the crash. A case will be registered following a preliminary inquiry, officials confirmed.
Police said the couple’s families were allegedly opposed to their relationship. The pair had planned to solemnise the wedding quietly at a temple and later legally register it. They had even rented a house at Chanthavila in preparation for their new life together.
Ragesh was returning home after visiting a relative when the fatal collision occurred. His body will be handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination, police added.
