Kochi, Kerala: Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), popularly known as Kochi Metro, has announced an enhanced discount on mobile QR digital tickets as part of its move towards complete digitisation of ticketing. 

Passengers booking tickets through mobile platforms were earlier eligible for a 10 per cent discount. This has now been increased by an additional five per cent, taking the total discount to 15 per cent for mobile QR tickets.

Short-term digital offer from January 26, 2026

The additional discount will come into effect from January 26, 2026. KMRL said the offer is short-term and is intended to encourage commuters to shift further towards digital ticketing.

The initiative forms part of Kochi Metro’s efforts to transition to a fully digital ticketing system.

QR gate upgrades ease mobile ticket scanning

The announcement follows the upgrade of entry gates to a camera-based QR scanning system, which has made mobile QR ticket scanning smoother and more seamless.

Currently, 34 per cent of Kochi Metro’s total ticket sales are made through digital platforms, reflecting growing passenger preference for mobile-based ticketing.
