Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served a notice to KPCC chief K Sudhakaran in connection with the Monson Mavunkal-linked fake antiques case. The leader was directed to appear at the ED office in Kochi this week. It is reliably learnt that similar notices have also been served to IG G Lakshman and former DIG Surendran in this regard.

The investigation is centred around the financial dealings concerning Monson Mavunkal, a key accused in the fraud case. Meanwhile, the Congress alleged that Sudhakaran was being unnecessarily haunted by the ED over the case.

When asked about the ED notice, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal opined, “The income tax department, ED and CBI have become the BJP’s election weapon departments.”

“Let them issue summons for interrogation. We do not fear the law. Wasn’t Rahul Gandhi grilled for five days?,” he asked. 

Earlier, the crime branch had arrested Sudhakaran in connection with the fraud case. ED has collected reports on the case and enquired about the statement by the complainant alleging Sudhakaran's involvement in Monson paying Rs 25 lakh to Anoop, a native of Thrissur.
